Our First Step: Serving at Camillus House

Our First Step: Serving at Camillus House

A Special Moment for the Consuelo Foundation

This week marked a very special moment for the Consuelo Foundation. We had the honor of volunteering at Camillus House in Miami, serving meals in the kitchen to those in need.

We helped prepare and serve plates of food to those in need. We stayed after the meal to help clean and reset the dining room. In the dining area, a quote on the wall read, “Do good for yourself by doing good for others.” That message stuck with us—it perfectly reflects what we experienced that day. In giving our time and energy, we received something even greater: connection, perspective, and hope.

What touched us most were the people we met. The people we served were kind, respectful, and carried themselves with a quiet strength that reminded us of the shared humanity that connects us all. It was a beautiful experience that reinforced why we started this journey.

We walked away not only grateful for the opportunity, but also inspired to continue this mission of service. Family members in Durham and Nashville will soon be volunteering at local food banks as well, continuing to grow our reach and impact in different communities.

This weekend marked the very first event for The Consuelo Foundation! This is just the beginning, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. Thank you to Camillus House for welcoming us, and to everyone who supports this mission. Together, we can bring comfort, solace, and relief to those who need it most.
